Botulinum Toxin Type A
Botulinum toxin (Type A) is an injection that interferes with the nerve signals that cause the muscle to contract. The 3 botulinum toxins that are used today in the United States are Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. All of the neurotoxins have similar efficacy and duration. This type of injection lessens and smooths the look of lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive movements on the face in areas such as between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes, and horizontal forehead creases. Botulinum toxin is also used cosmetically to balance facial asymmetry and relax tight neck bands, as well as medically to reduce perspiration and to treat migraine headaches, muscle spasticity, and TMJ discomfort.

The CoolSculpting procedure works by targeting fat cells underneath the skin with controlled cooling. Treated fat cells are frozen and over time the body processes the dead cells and eliminates them. The CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure reduces the number of fat cells in treated areas by about 20% to 25%.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Hair Restoration
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is made up of a number of proteins, cytokines and other bioactive factors that are the foundation for natural wound healing. Faster and improved healing is possible when platelet concentration is increased with PRP. Three plasma proteins fibrin, fibronectin, and vitronectin all contribute to the healing process.
Exploration and the study of the use of PRP began in the 1970’s, but was limited due to the high cost of equipment to do the testing and procedures. In the 1990’s, a number of studies and reports were published the healing benefits of PRP in the areas of maxillofacial dental, periodontal surgery, cosmetic surgery, and skin grafting. Two physicians associated with Stanford University, published the first human study about PRP for chronic tendon issues in 2006. This study concluded that a 93% pain reduction was evident at the two year follow up mark. High profile athletes, such as Hines Ward, Takashi Saito, and Tiger Woods, attribute their fast healing from injuries and quick return to the playing field to PRP.
At Reviv Medical Spa, Dr. Misle began experimenting with PRP for hair loss over 6 years ago when she began reading studies about athletes traveling abroad to heal torn ligaments faster. Dr. Misle noticed measurable and visible results in this experimental procedure reversing hair loss and immediately integrated the treatment into the medical practice.
The treatment involves injecting the scalp with human growth factors, compounds in the body that signal cells to heal and grow. PRP is plasma that has been concentrated with platelets. These concentrated platelets contain proteins and growth factors which help increase circulation to the hair follicles, stimulate the follicles to grow, and even thicken the hair shaft. It is believed that the introduction of platelets through platelet rich plasma can actually stimulate the growth of follicles, thereby reversing hair miniaturization seen in androgenetic alopecia and even preventing hair loss.
After a small amount of blood is taken from the patient to produce the PRP, the scalp is cleaned and numbed with local anesthetic. The blood is centrifuged to generate the PRP and then is injected directly into the areas of hair loss. PRP Hair Restoration is a safe choice for many patients with hair loss, and especially important for patients that have had hair transplants.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal uses an intense heat to damage the hair follicle to prevent future hair growth. The Cynosure laser hair removal system utilizes 2 wavelengths to allow the treating technician to switch between the 2 wavelengths during one treatment to provide a customized treatment to all patients based on hair and skin type.
The 755 nm wavelength has high melanin engagement features and confirmed long-term results for pigmented lesion removal and hair reduction. The 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength is considered the safest solution for permanent hair reduction for darker skin types. It is also the wavelength physicians and technicians choose to treat facial and leg veins.
This popular laser hair removal method is designed to permanently remove hair from all areas of the body including the upper lip, neck, underarms, chest, back, stomach, bikini line and legs. The number of treatments varies from patient to patient and best results are seen when having multiple treatments in the directed time frame.

The laser ablates the skin, which triggers the body’s natural healing process to stimulate collagen production. The ProFractional can be used on all skin types and both the skin and body.
The Spectra laser uniquely combines high power with short pulse width to expertly target pigment with minimal thermal damage. The dual mode Q-switched N d: YAG laser is the only laser on the market FDA cleared to treat melasma and is considered the best technology to treat colored tattoos. Short high energy pulses allow the Spectra laser to break up the tattoo ink and the body’s natural healing process removes the broken down pigment. Both the Spectra melasma and tattoo removal treatments require multiple treatments to see optimal results.
